The Call For Participation Has Started!

Here we go, again! Our Call for Participation for re:publica 2017 kicks off today and runs in three stages: until 4 December 2016, until 8 January 2017 and finally until 31 January 2017. The sooner you submit, the sooner we can work on your suggestion and start to fill our final event programme. We look forward to your ideas and active participation because that is what makes re:publica such a unique festival.

Love out Loud! is our motto. We call on all of you to highlight and celebrate the good in our world! The 11th re:publica is also an appeal for engagement, responsibility, emotion, and empathy within our digital society.

What we'd like to see

As always, a major focus of our conference is on digital policy. We like to highlight, discuss, and question current political events and trends within the digital arena. We also like to see other political topics, such as European politics or urban development and sustainability, addressed in our Call for Participation. re:publica also reflects the many other aspects of our digital society, from pop and hacker culture, to inclusion, digital hate speech, the maker movement, to social media marketing. All interesting or innovative digital topics are welcome. The Science Year 2016/17 will also have a special place in our programme. We'll be examining its focus on “Seas and Oceans” from our unique re:publica perspective. 2017 will mark the fourth consecutive year of MEDIA CONVENTION being part of re:publica. This media congress brings together media, science, and business. International experts from the worlds of television, film, and other media meet with decision-makers from the digital economy to discuss and exchange ideas on current issues and questions surrounding media and digital policy, market trends, and developments within the media society.

re:publica aims to present the opportunities and benefits gained from new technologies in various areas of society, while at the same taking a critical look behind the scenes. It's more than just a display of the latest technological developments. It's about evaluating them in the long term and making suggestions for the future.

Our numerous conference tracks offer plenty of different topics and interest groups. We will introduce additional #rp17 tracks to you within the coming days and weeks.

We're looking for daring, innovative, and original ideas!

Give your ideas free reign – openness, diversity, and complexity of themes and topics are the hallmarks of re:publica. Surprise us with some unusual ideas, concepts, suggestions, and projects. Daring, innovative and originality is what we're looking for! You're free to choose whichever format you want; while we welcome talks and discussion rounds, we also look forward to actions and ideas for performances, games, surveys – whatever exciting ideas you can come up with!

More than half of event programme is based on your submissions

Last year, we received over 900 exciting submissions to our Call for Participation. We turned those into a total of 400 hours of programme with 770 speakers and 490 sessions for #rpTEN. More than half of those sessions were curated from your submissions. So, it's well worth getting involved! Your ideas and topics make re:publica Europe's most colourful and diverse conference for our digital society.

re:publica wants your l<3ve

re:publica is more than a conference. It's a network. It's an attitude. It's diverse, colourful and multi-faceted.

The Call for Participation opens on 1 November 2016! Find more info and how to register on our Call for Participation page.
