Kickoff: Hybrid Music Lab 2017 – the experimental laboratory for digital developments in the music field

In cooperation with Eventbrite and recordJet and with kind support of the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, the Berlin Music Commission and Clubcommission Berlin are once again set to shine a light on current digital developments at the intersection of music and technology with their innovative Hybrid Music Lab.

The format aims to distinguish cutting-edge digital developments, while encouraging pioneers, innovators and overall visionaries from the fields of music and tech to build a sustainable network and engage in forward-thinking dialogue.

Kicking things off on May 08. and 09., the first interdisciplinary workgroups or so-called labs will get together within the scope of this year’s re:publica convention. As such, they will begin to work on finding practice-oriented solutions to existing needs, future projections and digital developments in the field of music, along five major themes: : Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual, Augmented & Mixed Reality, Sustainable Music Business and The Digital Club.

The Hybrid Music Lab will take place as a satellite event on July 14th, just in time for this year’s Tech Open Air (TOA). The conference will include individual lab presentations, panels and discussions and put some solutions to the test. There will also be a companion program of additional performances, exhibits and interactive installations on site.
