Call for Participation: Digitizing the Greenery

We are issuing the Call for Participation: Digitizing the Greenery as part of our renewed cooperation with the International Garden Exhibition Berlin 2017, and are already looking forward to your entries concerning the topic of urban life.

#rpTEN saw the first cooperation between the International Garden Exhibition (IGA) and the re:publica. It featured students from the Humboldt University using digital microscopy to “digitize the greenery” and bring microorganisms straight to you, the visitors, at the “IGA Oasis”. For the re:publica 2017, we’re expanding our cooperation with the IGA and adding its very own Call for Participation. The IGA will be taking place from April 13th until October 15th, 2017, in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district of Berlin and will have lots of urban planning projects spread all across the city.

On the last Thursday of the month, for a total of five nights from April until October, we’ll be inviting you to the Wolkenhain to join us for a symposium on the topic of “Digitizing the Greenery”. Come to the kick-off symposium on April 27th, 2017! radioeins will be accompanying the event series and will stream each of the events live. The symposium will also be taking place alongside the new Garden & Home Blog Award. You’ll be finding out more on that from us in the near future.

That’s why we’re especially looking forward to this call and your urban topics, ideas and activities surrounding the subject. Among other things, the IGA site will be showing smart ideas for a sustainable lifestyle. We’ll have the “IP Garden” in the Malzfabrik, for example: the little garden can be remotely watered using your smartphone or tablet and you can watch the plants growing live via cameras. A mini photovoltaics system called “Sunzilla” is set up in a green enclave next to the garden and delivers power for mobile devices. You’re an urban DIY maker and like to experiment out in nature with urban gardening, e-farming or something completely different and surprising? Then you’re the exact right fit! Send us your ideas and projects, the second stage of our Call for Participation ends on January 8th! You can find more information here.

If we pick your entry, you’ll not only be presenting at the re:publica 2017 but will also be giving an additional, in-depth presentation at one of the five symposia on “Digitizing the Greenery” at the IGA. Here’s wishing you good luck!

About the IGA:
Berlin gets Green – International Garden Exhibition (IGA) Berlin 2017
Under the banner of “An OCEAN of colors”, the International Garden Exhibition invites visitors to join them in Berlin from April 13th to October 15th, 2017. The IGA aims to make international garden design come alive on the exhibition grounds surrounding the Gardens of the World in Marzahn-Hellersdorf and the newly created Kienbergpark, thereby helping provide new impulses for contemporary urban development and a green lifestyle. We’re especially looking forward to Berlin’s first cabin cable car! #IGA2017
