Katrin Bornemann holds a Phd. in media and communication science. She worked for the GIZ, the USAID,  the DWA, universities, and NGOs in the sector of information and communication technology for development and media. From 2011 until 2014 she managed a GIZ innovative measure dealing with the usage of ICT to promote transparency, active e-citizenship, and communal management. Through social media and an e-Map, citizens were invited to participate in the public budget planning of their communities in the Balkans. Now, she is working for the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as ICT4D officer on including tech innovations such as big data, IoT, blockchain  into German development cooperation policy. Her particular interest lies in promoting tech-start-ups and women in tech. Her passion is to make German development cooperation more digital.
