Workshop Teacher | Productdesigner

Samira Akhavan studied art history and comparative literature at FU Berlin and is currently finishing her studies in product design at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. Due to her interest in structures and textiles she also spend a guest semester at KH Weißensee in the field of textile and surface design. Her work deals with the construction, aesthetics and functions of surfaces and materials. She identifies as a design researcher between the fields of product and textile design, focusing on material development and rethinking production technologies of industrial production and traditional craftsmen ship. She is interested in the relationships of designer, producer and consumer regarding the (experimental) production of objects. Interning at institutions of fabrication, Fab Lab Berlin and Electronic + Textile Institute Berlin, inspired her to be more invested in sharing knowledge and skills through accessible workshops.
